Responsible liquor service

In Alberta, we all have a role to play in being socially responsible.

For AGLC, being responsible means providing policies, regulations, programs and the tools needed to educate and raise awareness for all Albertans on the responsible use of liquor.

For liquor providers

For our industry partners, being responsible means not only complying with legislation, but going the extra mile to ensure the highest standards of safety and service to meet and exceed the needs of the public.

Our resources for liquor providers can help you encourage healthy liquor use:

  • Posters and brochures that support informed choices when consuming alcohol.
  • DrinkSense provides Albertans with information and resources on learning more about responsible alcohol consumption.
  • The Dry9 movement encourages and supports Albertans making the choice to go ”dry” during the nine months of pregnancy by providing resources and starting the conversation about the effects of alcohol during pregnancy.
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of people who were exposed to alcohol in the womb. AGLC is proud to support Foundations in FASD Training, a free online course for Albertans to enhance their knowledge of FASD.
  • Best Bar None is an accreditation program that raises standards and celebrates venues for striving to provide patrons with an enjoyable and safer night out.

For the public

For the public, being responsible means every adult Albertan makes informed choices when consuming alcohol and takes an active role in creating a safe and social drinking culture that will reduce the harms related to the over consumption of alcohol.
